Have you experience Faboo?
“Unfortunately, Faboo.blogspot.com was already taken when I first made my blog. So, a lot of people tend to accidentally mistake my blog’s name with the domain name,” Claire said. “My blog is called ‘Faboo’ mainly because I just wanted something short and quirky. Since, ‘Faboo’ is just fun fashion vernacular for ‘Fabulous’. I decided to use it.”
Claire is the mastermind behind the amazing Faboo blog. She started her blog in 2008 during her junior year of high school. Now, she is a first year student at The New School in New York.
“I came to Parsons School of Design for photography, but realized that it wasn’t the path I wanted to go with all the success I’m having with my blog,” Claire said. “So, I decided to switch to studying fashion history and theory.”
I invite you to meet Claire of Faboo.
Q: What inspired you start blogging?
I grew up in New York City, a huge fashion capitol of the US. When my family moved upstate when I was 13, I was sort of shell-shocked from such a huge change in the pace of life. Since, I was having a hard time relating to my friends when it came to fashion. I decided to start my blog to just purge my thoughts a little and practice my photography- little did I know it would change my life!
Q: I love your personal style. Who are you inspired by or what are you inspired by when you are putting outfits together?
Thanks!! I think it’s say to say I’m most inspired by both men and women who wear things in a way that is seemingly effortless and completely relevant to their lives. I’m especially a fan of Jenna Lyons, the Executive Creative Director of JCrew. She has this amazing ability to style basics in a way that is always interesting and quirky. Quirkiness is always an important theme I keep in my mind when I’m getting dressed. Whether it’s a pop of bright color or odd layers, it keeps things interesting!
Q: When you aren’t blogging, what are some things you like to do?
I have two artists for parents so I have a huge affinity for the art world. I love going out and taking photos, gallery hopping, decoupaging any blank surface in my wake and listening to music.
Q: What is one trend for Spring 2011 that you are in love with? Why?
I truly adored seeing so many trends that reflected a certain tomboy-ishness or a “borrowed from your boyfriend” kind of vibe. I love wearing contrast. The whole masculine/feminine trend is really exciting for me!
Q: What are the best pair of shoes you have brought so far? Why?
Honestly, the best pair of shoes that I have ever bought are these fabulous Brazilian tawny-colored vintage men’s leather boots that I bought when I was thrift hopping in Toronto a few years back. I have literally worn them into the ground. They sort of embody everything I love in a shoe- they’re sturdy and beyond comfortable. They accentuate my legs and they work in every season! If I could, I would have them in every color!
Q: What are three pair of shoes that are on your current wish list? Why?
I absolutely covet basics with a twist, and my favorite shoes are always pieces that I can just throw on!
It was hard to choose, but my 3 most crave-able shoes at the moment are Frye’s Dorado Riding boot for their amazing quality and beyond perfect shape , ASOS’s Harley platform sandal, which is AMAZINGLY comfortable and can hold up walking around the city for hours in , and a pair of Repetto’s amazingly beautiful and simple ballet flats.
